TORRANCE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 1, 1999--Total Renal Care Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:TRL) is pleased to announce that Richard Lester has assumed the newly created position of Vice President, Investor Relations for the Company, moving from his current position of Vice President, Corporate Development. Mr. Lester's Corporate Development responsibilities are currently being transitioned to additional executives responsible for Business Development and Mergers & Acquisitions at Total Renal Care. In addition, the Company is nearing completion of an active recruiting effort to engage a replacement responsible for Mr. Lester's Corporate Development activities.
    Mr. Lester has been with Total Renal Care since January of 1995 and has been primarily involved in acquisitions and business development -- including leading the development and operational efforts in New York State for the past 15 months. In 1996, Mr. Lester was actively involved in the development and initial roll-out of Total Nephrology Care Network Program and was also a key part of the negotiation of the Kaiser-San Diego transaction. Mr. Lester joined Total Renal Care soon after the August 1994 leveraged buyout and brings a broad base of experience with Total Renal Care to this new position, including a detailed knowledge of Total Renal Care's acquisition, managed care, ancillary services, quality management, operations and information systems programs.
    Prior to working with Total Renal Care, Mr. Lester worked with Victor Chaltiel, Total Renal Care's Chairman, CEO and President, at Abbey Healthcare Group and Total Pharmaceutical Care. He has worked with Victor Chaltiel since 1992. From 1988 to 1990, Mr. Lester worked in the corporate finance department at Bear, Stearns & Co., Inc. Mr. Lester has an MBA from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA and BA in American History and BS in Finance from the University of Pennsylvania.
