TORRANCE, California, May 16, 2000—Total Renal Care Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: TRL), announces the following executive appointments:

Charlie McAllister, M.D., F.A.I.T., M.B.A., will be joining Total Renal Care (TRC) as Chief Medical Officer effective July 1, 2000. He recently served as a Medical Director for Gambro Healthcare from June 1997 through the present. He also served Gambro Healthcare as its Vice President of Medical Affairs. Dr. McAllister has been a practicing nephrologist for over 25 years.

Harlan Cleaver, our newly appointed Chief Technology Officer has assumed his responsibilities effective April 24, 2000. He has completed his transition from Gambro, which agreed to accelerate the expiration of his non-compete in exchange for other settlement terms.

Ron Sawyer joins the Company as Vice President of Operations, Southeast Division. Mr. Sawyer has over twenty years experience in the dialysis industry.

Total Renal Care Holdings, Inc, based in Torrance, California, is the nation's second-largest provider of dialysis services for patients suffering from chronic kidney failure. The Company owns and operates kidney dialysis centers and home peritoneal dialysis programs domestically in 32 states, as well as Washington, D.C.
