DaVita Inc. announced today that Michele J. Hooper has joined its Board of Directors.

Ms. Hooper, age 51, has many years of experience in healthcare services. From 1976 to 1992, Ms. Hooper held various positions within Baxter International, Inc. including President of their Alternate Site division and Baxter Corporation, Canada. From 1992 to 1998 she was a member of the Caremark International, Inc. senior management team, as Corporate Vice President and President, International Business Group. Ms. Hooper also serves on the Boards of three NYSE companies; AstraZeneca, Target Corporation and PPG Industries, Inc. She formerly served on the board of Seagrams Company Ltd.

DaVita contracted with TMP/Highland Partners to assist the company in identifying possible candidates.

DaVita is a leading provider of dialysis services for patients suffering from chronic kidney failure. The Company owns and operates kidney dialysis centers and home peritoneal dialysis programs domestically in 33 states, as well as Washington, D.C. As of March 31, 2003, DaVita operates 523 outpatient facilities serving 45,000 patients, including 3,300 patients in 30 centers under management.
